The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) intends to launch the Women’s Premier League with a bang (WPL). According to a preliminary schedule being circulated among the necessary authorities of the yet-to-be-launched league, the inaugural match would be played on March 4 between Team Mumbai and Team Ahmedabad (Saturday). It may appear to be another opening, but the match-intrinsic up’s significance cannot be overlooked. In truth, it is Mukesh Ambani versus Gautam Adani, two of the most powerful names in Indian business and probably two of the wealthiest people in India and the world.

The organisers of the ILT20 tournament in the UAE, where both teams compete, have also promoted this as a tantalising match-up. The first match, scheduled for January 27 in Dubai, was postponed, and the Gulf Giants of Adani just defeated Ambani’s MI Emirates in the rematch in Abu Dhabi. The BCCI intends to launch the WPL at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. The league would be held exclusively in Mumbai at CCI and DY Patil Stadium, as Cricbuzz reported in the first instance. For an ODI between India and Australia on March 17 and the IPL, which is expected to begin on April 1, the Wankhede, the city’s main venue, is being reserved.

RCB and DC are to play the 2nd game

The second game of the tentative WPL schedule will occur at CCI on March 5 and will match Team Bengaluru versus Team Delhi. On Day Two, Team Ahmedabad will face Team Lucknow at DY Patil Stadium on Sunday night. According to the schedule, three of the five competing teams appear to be moving on to the playoffs, with the first-place team going straight to the championship game and the second-and third-place teams battling in the Eliminator. The five-team, 22-match league will include five off days; the first will be on March 17 and the second will be on March 19, two days later. The following two are on March 22 and 23, following the conclusion of the league stage.

Following the fifth and final off day on March 25, the Eliminator will take place on March 24 at CCI, while the final will be held on March 26, a Sunday, at DY Patil Stadium. The BCCI has called each of the five business owners to schedule the signing of the franchise agreements. Unless someone’s representative is unable to go to Mumbai on that day, the signings are anticipated to take place on Friday (February 3). The signature also verifies the participation of all five parties, dispelling any rumours of last-minute substitutions.
