The seventeenth match of WPL 2023 will be played between Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on March 20. Gujarat Giants faced a rather forgettable defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)in their last game and placed at the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, UP Warriorz registered a convincing victory over Mumbai Indians in their last game and placed third in the points table as well.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Women chased down the total within 16 overs, courtesy of Sophie Devine’s onslaught. She smashed a 36-ball 99 and sealed the deal for her side against Gujarat Giants. On the other hand, UP Warriorz became the first team to beat the table toppers Mumbai Indians after restricting them to 127. Later, they chased down the total with 5 wickets in hand. However, both teams will try to end their tournament on a high note as well.

Alyssa Healy said after the win, “It was close, credit to the girls for hanging in there and getting it done. You got to find some momentum going towards the end of the tournament, so happy on that count. Not too sure if the toss was crucial. Really proud of our spinners. If the wickets keep deteriorating as they are then we have a good chance.”

Sneh Rana said after the game: “Short of words now. But this is what happens in the game of cricket. We had a good total but couldn’t do it with the ball. I think we weren’t up to the mark with the bowling, and that cost us. (On Harleen’s position) We sent Meghana because she is an explosive batter, we thought she can score quick runs. I think we need to come out of this game, but we will come back stronger.”
