Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana are the two Indians who will feature in the upcoming edition of the Women’s Hundred which will be played later this year. Harmanpreet Kaur played for the Manchester Originals, but she will now ply her trade for the Trent Rockets as well.
On the other hand, Mandhana has played for the Southern Brave since the inaugural edition and she has stayed with them as well. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur was picked in the first round at a price of 31,250 dollars as well.
However, Kaur was among the players who were in the top bracket, alongside Sophia Dunkley, Shabnim Ismail, Grace Harris, Heather Knight, Laura Wolvaardt, Sophie Ecclestone, Kate Cross, Alyssa Healy, Sophie Devine, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Danielle Wyatt, Mandhana, Suzie Bates and Marizanne Kapp.
Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) where she is leading the team as well. He will play in the Eliminator against Alyssa Healy’s UP Warriorz. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana’s campaign in the WPL is already over after the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were knocked out of the competition following a rather forgettable show as well.
However, Mumbai Indians won their last game against the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Harmanpreet Kaur said after the win: “Winning is always important to get the momentum going. When you lose, it can be negative feelings. But everyone was talking how to win this. In the last two games, we were not able to do what we were trying to do. But we discussed today as to how to go about it. For us, winning the game was important. When we got a good start, we were trying to chase it down inside 15 overs. After losing my wicket, we played a little sensibly. Amelia is always keen to do well for the team. She always wants to do well for the team.”
