The ongoing series of India against Bangladesh has turned out to be a series to forget for the men in blue, they have lost the first two ODIs against the hosts Bangladesh. The Indian batting failed to make their impact on both occasions, even with the experienced trio of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli being in the team. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the slips cordon during the 2nd ODI and has been ruled out of the final ODI. Rohit Sharma will probably miss the test matches as well.
In Rohit Sharma’s absence, batter KL Rahul might lead the team. Team India will be looking to bounce back strong in the longer format and will be looking to end the tour on a high. Some of the senior players need to stand up and make valuable contributions in the upcoming test series. Rohit Sharma can be replaced by right-handed opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran in the India squad for the Bangladesh Test series. He scored 298 runs in 2 innings at an average of 149 for India A against Bangladesh A in two unofficial test matches. He also led the Indian team to victory. Shubman Gill is another fine prospect at the top of the order for India who could be chosen ahead of Easwaran.
The squad could see the inclusion of Mukesh Kumar in place of Mohammed Shami. While Saurabh Kumar could replace Ravindra Jadeja who took 15 wickets in two unofficial tests. Mukesh, on the other hand, scalped 9 wickets at an average of 13.22. It will be a great opportunity for these youngsters to showcase their talent. Saurabh Kumar and Mukesh Kumar have had good India A series and if they are called into the Indian team they won’t be short of experience.
