Nicholas Pooran is a West Indian cricketer who plays for the national team in international cricket and for Trinidad and Tobago in domestic matches. He made his international debut for the West Indies in 2016 and since then he made a name for himself as well.
He made his T20I debut for the West Indies against Pakistan on 23 September 2016. And, in November 2018, he was added to the West Indies squad for their tour to India where in the third match, he scored an unbeaten 53 runs off just 25 balls to score his maiden half-century in T20I cricket as well.
He made his ODI debut for the West Indies against England on 20 February 2019 and that year only, he was added to the West Indies squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup as well. On 1 July 2019, in the match against Sri Lanka, he scored his first ODI century. He also led the team in the 5-match T20I series against Australia which the Caribbean side won 4 games to 1 in place of the original T20I captain Kieron Pollard who injured his hamstring during training as well.

However, in November 2019, during the third ODI against Afghanistan, Nicholas Pooran was found guilty of ball-tampering and he also admitted the charge, and was banned for four T20I matches as well. He again led the team in T20Is and was later named as the vice-captain of the West Indies squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as well.

Nicholas Pooran was engaged to his girlfriend, Alyssa for 6 long years. She made headlines when she was seen cheering for her partner from the stands during IPL 2020. However, they are childhood partners and their strong friendship turned to love and they eventually started dating each other in 2014 as well.
The Caribbean batsman asked Alyssa to marry him in November 2020 and they eventually got married too.
