David Warner is a left-handed batsman hailing from New South Wales in Australia. He broke into the national team with no first-class experience and proved his mettle in all three formats of the game.
Warner was born on 27th October 1986 in Sydney. He represented Australia’s U-19 side that toured India in 2005-06. In the 2008-09 season, he made his first-class debut for New South Wales. Delhi Daredevils signed Warner in 2009. Though he had a few memorable knocks for the Delhi side, his most impressive stint was with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after the franchise signed him in 2014. In 2015, Warner was appointed as the captain of SRH. He also went on to become the leading scorer that year. He continued his consistent displays in the following seasons of the IPL.
In 2018, things turned for the worse as Cricket Australia banned David Warner for 12 months for his involvement in the ball-tampering incident in Australia’s Test match against South Africa. This was probably the lowest point of his career. Furthermore, he had to step down as SRH’s skipper and was banned from playing in the 2018 IPL season.
Warner made his comeback in 2019 after serving his punishment. His return was in such a dominant fashion as he finished the 2019 IPL season as the tournament’s leading scorer. He continued his form into the 2019 World Cup and ended up as the second-highest scorer behind Rohit Sharma.
