Rehan Ahmed is a professional English cricketer. He plays the role of a right-arm leg spinner and right-hand batter, he represents the national team in the test format. Born in Nottingham, he was first seen in action representing the Yorkshire u-15s level, since then has featured for various ECB age-group sides being a part of Leicestershire Academy. At the age of 18, Rehan was fast-tracked into the England red ball setup, he is a mature cricketer who is already been tagged as one of the brightest prospects in English cricket. Rehan is a brilliant allrounder, he has got some mystery to his leg spin with a lethal googly and a solid technique with bat and can also take the aggressive route when required.

The allrounder received a call-up from the senior side in the 2021 Royal London Cup, making his debut against Yorkshire in July 2021. After his debut for Yorkshire’s limited-overs side, the 17-year old received was rewarded with his first professional contract in July 2021. Rehan caught the eye of the national selectors by producing match-winning performances with both bat and ball, including the career-best figures of 134 unbeaten and 4/17 with the ball in the victory over Derbyshire u-18 squad. The youngster was named in the County’s XI team to face India in a warm-up three-day fixture but unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity in the playing XI.

On the back of some impressive match winnings performance, Ahmed was picked up in the England test squad for the tour of Pakistan and the youngster when on to make his debut in the subcentral conditions and was mighty effective with his leg spin and made the cricketing world notice him. At the age of 18 years and 126 days, Rehan Ahmed became the youngest male cricketer to represent England in Test match history and also became the youngest debutant to achieve a five-wicket haul in Tests. Rehan Ahmed was bagged by the Gulf Giants in the inaugural edition of the ILT20 held in the United Arab Emirates. He also signed a contract with the Southern Brave franchise in the Hundred and was impressive in his first outing as well. Unfortunately, despite being the talk of the town the youngster went unsold in the Indian Premier League auction but he undoubtedly has a great chance to be picked up in the upcoming seasons.
