Nat Sciver is a woman cricketer from England. Nat was the first ever England cricketer to get a hat-trick in a Women’s Twenty20 International match. The “Natmeg” shot is called after Sciver when in a game while batting she struck a cricket ball through her legs. Sciver’s birth place is the city Tokya situated in Japan. Nat’s mother is Julia Longbottom. She is a British diplomat, and was posted in Japan at the time of Nat’s birth and has served as the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Japan since March 2021. Richard Sciver, Nat’s father, is a business executive. Part of Nat’s early life was spent in Poland where she grew up and  participated in women’s league football, and in the Netherlands, where she played basketball.

Nat used to attend Epsom College in Surrey, United Kingdom. There she played cricket with future England colleague and fellow Test centurion Alice Davidson-Richards between 2007 and 2011. She began playing cricket as a teenager for the Surrey club Stoke d’Abernon. Nat spent two seasons playing cricket for Epsom College 1st XI. She was selected for the 2013 limited-overs series against Pakistan. That was the time when she made her complete England debut. She became the first England cricketer to take a hat-trick in an international T20 International against New Zealand. She holds one of the first 18 ECB central contracts for female players, which were revealed in April 2014.

Nat was selected to the England women’s Academy team for the tour to Dubai in April 2015. There the English women played their Australian opponents in two One Day Internationals (ODI) and two Twenty20 matches. At the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, she and Heather Knight broke the record for the best third-wicket partnership in the tournament’s history by scoring 213 runs. She was awarded one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2018 for her contribution to the World Cup triumph the previous summer. She was selected to England’s team for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 event which took place in the West Indies in October 2018. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after watching her play in the previous matches gave a full central contract for 2019 in February 2019.

Nat reached the milestone of 1,000 runs in Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket in March 2019. This was during the third WT20I match against Sri Lanka. She was selected to England’s team for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia in January 2020. Nat was also appointed as vice-captain of England’s Test and WODI squads for their home series against India in June 2021. Nat was selected to England’s squad for the Women’s Ashes visit to Australia in December 2021. She was also selected to England’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand after her brilliant performance in previous World Cups in February 2022. She was sold to the Trent Rockets in April 2022 for the 2022 season of The Hundred. She was also awarded as PCA’s player of the year in 2022.
