Kraigg Brathwaite is a professional West Indian cricketer. He plays the role of a right-hand batter and an off-spinner, representing the national team in the Test format but has also played in the shorter format earlier in his career. Kraigg Brathwaite led West Indies in the U-19 World Cup in Australia in 2012, where he announced himself to the world, with impressive half-centuries, Brathwaite scored 213 runs in 6 encounters and this was for the second time he was playing in U-19 cricket after having played for them in 2010 as well. In 2010, he had a tremendous run with the bat, scoring 335 runs in 6 encounters as finished as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament. Brathwaite signed a deal with Nottinghamshire where his worked on improving his game.

In 2009, Brathwaite received his maiden international call-up, when several Windies players boycotted from the tour against Bangladesh due to payment issues. However, he couldn’t make his debut, but he soon got to play for the national team and proved his worth with some useful knocks in spin-friendly tracks in India. His career came to a standstill when he scored three ducks in five matches against Australia and ended up losing his place. However, he got back into the team after some brilliant domestic performances and has now cemented his spot in the National team in the longest format. Brathwaite ability to play for long hours, his patience at the crease and his consistency make him one of the best test players going around in West Indies at the moment.

He might not be one of the most attractive batsmen going around but Kraigg Brathwaite’s focus and concentration make him a very valuable part of the West Indies batting line-up in the Test format. Kraigg has a solid technique and is tailor-made for the longest format of the game. Brathwaite has gone onto become a vital cog in the Windies line-up since making his Test debut against Pakistan in May 2011, on the back of some brilliant performances he was given the responsibility to lead the team in the Test format and has done exceedingly well both as a player and a captain. Brathwaite has been a red-ball specialist but can also play in the limited-overs format. He has been an integral part of the Test setup over the last many years but his consistency hasn’t been that great. Brathwaite has a huge appetite for runs and will look to score more consistently in the final phase of his career for the West Indies.
