Katherine Brunt is a cricketer from England who presently plays for Trent Rockets. Katherine was born 2 July 1985. Katherine is a right-arm fast bowler and also she is into batting. She is a right-handed batter who comes down the order. She was an aggressive right-arm fast bowler with a classical motion. She used to play for Yorkshire age group sides in her early days. Due to fitness issues she had to take a break from cricket, only at the age of 17. She used to attend Penistone Grammar School in Barnsley, situated in South Yorkshire. Her return to the game was for the Test series against New Zealand back in 2005. She was also selected to the World Cup squad of England, Which took place in South Africa in the year 2005. 

Katherine impressed everyone with her performance when she grabbed 14 wickets and scored her first half-century in the Ashes, which England won in the year 2005. She initiated the 2009 World Cup’s bowling for England. It was a successful campaign for England. In the 2009 Twenty20 International World Cup final, She was awarded as the player of the match. She took 3 wickets in 4 overs and conceded only 6 runs. She holds one of the first 18 ECB central contracts for female players, which were revealed in April 2014. Katherine was also a part of the team which played in the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup and won it. She played a major part in England’s win back then.

Katherine was selected to England’s team for the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 event which took place in the West Indies in October 2018. She had to withdraw from the competition due to a back injury. She was replaced by Fran Wilson in the team. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave her a full central contract for 2019 in February 2019 after she recovered from her injury. In June 2019, the ECB selected her to England’s team for the Women’s Ashes initial match against Australia. Katherine  claimed her 150th wicket in WODI matches in December 2019, during England’s series first match against Pakistan in Malaysia. She was selected to England’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in February 2022.

Katherine in April 2022 was sold to the Trent Rockets for the 2022 season of The Hundred. She was also part of the England’s cricket team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, in July 2022. Katherine reached the milestone of 100th wicket in WT20I cricket later that month, during England’s home series against South Africa. Yet another milestone was achieved by Ktherine, as she played her 100th WT20I match on July 30, 2022, in England’s opening Commonwealth Games match against Sri Lanka. Katherine took the decision to retire from county and regional cricket in January 2023. Katherine has played a total of 267 International matches including all the three formats of the game. She has taken a total of 335 wickets in her International career which is undoubtedly one of the best in women’s cricket.
