Peirson is an attacking batter and a reliable wicketkeeper, Jimmy Peirson started playing cricket for Brisbane at a very young age and has gone through the ranks at a rapid pace, he was picked in the Brisbane Heat side in the Big Bash League and has emerged as one of their most dependable players. Pierson was given the responsibility of leading the Brisbane Heat unit full-time in BBL 2011. He was the youngest-ever Sheffield Shield captain as well for the Queensland Bulls and went on to win the competition with some excellent captaincy.
