George Linde is a professional South African cricketer. He plays the role of a left-arm spinner and left-hand batter, he represents the national team in all the formats. George Linde started off his cricketing career as a seam bowler during his school days, but changed into a left spin bowler. Ever since turning to spin, he never looked back and went from strength to strength, he has worked hard on his batting and now has become a threat to reckon with his hard-hitting down the order. Linde uncanny ability to pick up wickets and get quick runs down the order makes him a valuable player. Many T20 domestic franchises have their eyes locked on this talented all-rounder, he has the ability to singlehandedly win a game for his team.

Linde went to England for a stint at the English domestic circuit before returning to South Africa. Linde made his first-class debut for Gauteng way back in 2012. He quickly emerged as a promising young all-rounder in the domestict circuit and kep improving his skills in white-ball cricket. He bagged 15 wickets in the 2017-18 domestic one-day cup and was awarded a place in the Cape Town Blitz squad for the Mzansi Super League 2018-19. He then played in the Western Province Amateur team before being snapped up by the Cape Cobras franchise team. His consistent performances finally paved the way for his selection in the South Africa A squad. He was part of the South Africa A side which toured India in August-September just before the senior team came along for a Test series. He finished as the joint 2nd highest wicket-taker in the unofficial ODI series and finally bagged his maiden national call-up when he was brought in as a replacement for JJ Smuts who failed to live up to the fitness standards.

Linde made his Test debut against India in Ranchi and bagged 4 wickets in the match as a replacement for Keshav Maharaj who was ruled out of the final Test owing to an injury, he had announced him self on the tour of India. In 2020, when cricket returned to South Africa the spinner made his T20I debut against England. The following year, he toured Pakistan to play a couple more Tests in the historic series. Linde has now become a regular in the South African set-up. In May 2021, the national selectors backed him for the tour of the West Indies. The hard-hitting all round has a promising future ahead of him, he, unfortunately, went unsold in the Indian Premier League Auction but was picked by the MI Cape Town for 80 lakhs.
