Bjorn Fortuin is a professional cricketer who represents South Africa Internationally. He was born on 21 October, 1994. His birth place is Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa. He was named in the North West cricket team’s roster for the Africa T20 Cup in 2015. He was selected by the Durban Qalandars’s team for the first season of the T20 World League which took place in August 2017. Even so, Cricket South Africa first postponed the event from pre pre-decided date to November 2018, only to cancel it shortly thereafter. He was selected in the Highveld Lions squad for the 2018-19 season in June 2018. 

In October 2018, he was selected by the Paarl Rocks side for the first Mzansi Super League T20 event. During the 2018-19 CSA T20 Challenge tournament, Bjorn took fifteen wickets in just 10 matches and with such stats he became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. At the time of Cricket South Africa’s annual awards presentation in August 2019, Bjorn was awarded the CSA T20 Challenge Player of the Season for his outstanding performance. He was a part of the Paarl Rocks roster for the 2019 Mzansi Super League campaign, which took place in September 2019. He was named to Gauteng’s squad in April 2021, ahead of the South African cricket season 2021-22.

Bjorn was able to take his first five-wicket haul in List A cricket on 1 April 2022, in Division One of the 2021-22 CSA One-Day Cup. Bjorn Fortuin was selected to South Africa’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their series against India in August 2019. This was the first time he got selected for South Africa’s official team.  On September 18, 2019, he played his South African T20I debut match against India. Seeing his performance in T20, he was selected to South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) team for the series they were going to play against England in January 2020. On February 7, 2020, he played his ODI debut match for South Africa against England. 

Bjorn Fortuin was selected to South Africa’s team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2021. Bjorn in April, 2021 accepted islam as his religion and changed his name to Imaad Fortuin. He is a left handed orthodox bowler, which gives him an advantage over right hand batsmen. Bjorn has played a total of 19 International matches including 2 formats of the game in his entire career till now. He hasn’t got the chance to play any Test match till date. In 19 matches he has taken a total of 21 wickets. Bjorn had an amazing season while playing for Paarl Royals in the debut tournament SA T20 2023. His overall performance while playing for all the franchises he’s been part of is quite commendable. He has taken 151 wickets in just 56 matches with an economy of 2.82.
