Howell is a right-handed batsman who also bowls decent right-arm medium-fast. His ability to change the pace and blows off and leg cutters make him very effective on slow and low pitches. He has become a revelation in T20 cricket around the globe. Howell was born in France but moved to England to pursue his cricketing career. Howell made his first-team debut for Hampshire against Leicestershire in a List-A game in 2010.
In 2011, he became a regular member in the playing XI for Hampshire. Howell registered his maiden ton, scoring 122 from just 113 deliveries. He also ended the One-Day season as Hampshire’s top run-getter. in 2018, Howell finished as the top wicket-taker for Gloucestershire with 17 wickets. Howell was bagged by Birmingham Phoenix ahead of the 2021 inaugural season of the Hundreds. In spite of making a name for himself in the shortest format, Howell went unsold in the Indian Premier League auction for a couple of seasons but finally in 2022, he was bought by the Punjab Kings franchise for INR 40 Lakhs. Howell plays for the Colombo Stars in the Lanka Premier League and Desert Viper in the ILT20 League. Benny Howell represents the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.
