What does the RR IPL 2023 squad look like?

In the IPL 2023 mini-auction on Friday, December 23rd, Rajasthan Royals signed West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder for INR 5.75 crore (December 23). To cover all bases ahead of the 2023 season, they also recruited top Australian spinner Adam Zampa for INR 1.5 million and South African wicketkeeper-batter Donovan Ferreira for INR 50 lakh. They capped off the day with the surprising signing of former England captain Joe Root for INR 1 crore. The IPL 2022 runners-up placed the first bid for English hitter Harry Brook during the IPL 2023 auction despite having only INR 13.2 crore to their credit but Sunrisers Hyderabad won the player.

Jason Holder, a CPL player for the Barbados Royals, was the subject of the next proposal from the Royals, who outbid Chennai Super Kings with a bid of INR 5.75 crore. Due to their limited budget, the Royals also opened the bidding for Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Nicholas Pooran, Shivam Mavi, and Mayank Dagar but were outbid by rival teams. However, they were able to secure South African wicketkeeper-batter, Donovan Ferreira, for INR 50 lakh during the accelerated round, who would serve as a strong backup option for Samson and Buttler.

With a balanced bowling lineup that included Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Sen last season, the Rajasthan Royals were excellent. The Royals also kept backup pace alternatives Obed McCoy and Navdeep Saini, but no backup spinners were available. The additions of Adam Zampa and Murugan Ashwin have significantly improved the spin department for the Royals, who have a 25-player squad for the IPL 2023.
