T20 World Cup 2022: South Africa registered a convincing win over Rohit Sharma-led Team India by 5 wickets at Perth Stadium in Perth on Sunday, October 30 in the ongoing mega event. Batting first, India could only manage 133 runs in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 68. Apart from him, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could reach the double figure. While Lungi Ngidi claimed 4 for 29, Wayne Parnell picked up 3 for 15 as well.

While chasing, South Africa also lost three quick wickets within the powerplay. However, Aiden Markram and David Miller steadied the ship where they scored 52 and 59* respectively and sealed the deal as well. For India, Arshdeep Singh claimed 2 wickets for 25 but they eventually lost the game as well.

However, after the game, Rohit Sharma, the India captain said: “We expected that the pitch will have something in it. We knew that there’ll be a lot of help for the seamers, that’s why it wasn’t an easy target to chase. We fell a little short with the bat. We fought well, but South Africa were better today. When you see that score (40/3 in 10), you’ll always think you’re in the game.”

He also applauded the batting stand between Markram and Miller. Rohit Sharma also admitted that they were sloppy today on the ground.

He continued, “That was a match-winning partnership from Markram and Miller. We were a little poor in the field, we gave so many chances and we weren’t clinical. We were just not good enough. The last two games, we were pretty good in the field. We couldn’t hold our chances, we missed a few run-outs. We need to keep our heads high and take a learning from this game.”

However, Rohit Sharma has also shared his plans to bowl with the spinner. However, he stated that Miller played brilliantly as well.

“I’ve seen what happens with the spinners in the last over, so I wanted to go the other way. If I can finish Ash, I just wanted to make sure that the seamers are bowling the right overs. You have to use it at some point. With the new batter, it was the perfect time for him to bowl. Miller played some good shots as well,” Rohit Sharma concluded.
