Wanindu Hasaranga is a right-arm leg-break bowler and a right-handed batsman who has represented Sri Lanka in all formats of the game. Born on 29th July 1997, he is one of the promising cricketing talents to come out of Sri Lanka recently. Hasaranga plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hasaranga made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2017 at a very young age of 19. He made a dream start to his international career by claiming a hat-trick in his debut match. This achievement made him the first debutant leg spinner to secure a hat-trick. In 2019, Hasaranga made his T20I debut against New Zealand. He was named the player of the series in Sri Lanka’s T20I series win in Pakistan as the visitors whitewashed the hosts for the first time in history. He made his Test debut against South Africa and took four wickets and scored his maiden Test fifty.
Hasaranga’s match-winning performances earned him a place in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In the match against South Africa, he claimed a hat-trick and became the first Sri Lankan to achieve this in T20 World Cup. Hasaranga made his IPL debut for RCB in 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the ICC Awards held in January 2022, Wanindu Hasaranga was named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year, and the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year.

Recently, Hasaranga’s value rose significantly following his performances for Sri Lanka and in the IPL. He has a net worth of around $1.3 million which is around INR 10 crores. This money came from his contracts with franchises, salary and endorsements.
Hasaranga earns a decent amount as a salary from Sri Lankan cricket and other domestic teams. In addition to that, he was signed by RCB for a whopping INR 10.75 crores at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
In 2021, Hasaranga was signed by RCB for INR 50 lakhs. In 2022, his value went through the roof as he was drafted in by RCB for INR 10.75 crores.
