Vinod Kambli amidst controversy again, FIR registered against him in Mumbai

Officials claimed on Sunday that Mumbai Police had filed an FIR against former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli for allegedly assaulting and abusing his wife while inebriated at his residence in suburban Bandra. On Sunday, two police officers went to Kambli’s flat and served him with a summons, requesting him to come before them to record his statement, they said. So yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the alleged incident on Friday, according to a Bandra police station official.

In her police complaint, Kambli’s wife Andrea claimed that he flung the handle of a cooking pan at her, causing her to suffer a head injury. The incident occurred between 1 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. on Friday, when Kambli arrived at his flat allegedly under the influence of alcohol and began assaulting his wife, according to him. Their 12-year-old son, who was present at the time, interfered in the quarrel, but Kambli walked into the kitchen, brought a broken frying pan handle, and reportedly hurled it at his wife, injuring her, according to the complaint.

Kambli started promisingly in international cricket

He is a former Indian international cricketer who batted left-handed in the middle order for India, Mumbai, and Boland, South Africa. On his birthday, Kambli became the first cricketer to score a century in a One-Day International. He holds the highest lifetime batting average for an Indian test cricketer, however, he retired at the age of 23. Following that, he was only considered for One Day International matches, despite the fact that his last appearance in that format was also at the young age of 28.

He has worked as a cricket analyst for a Marathi News station and has appeared as a commentator on several television programmes. He has also appeared in several reality shows and has acted in a few serials and Bollywood films. In the Kannada film Bettanagere, he had a supporting part. Kambli is currently a member of the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Cricket Improvement Committee and has reportedly requested job from the MCA in order to support his family.
