The UAE T20 League which is set to get underway in 2023 will feature six franchises in action. The inaugural edition of the UAE T20 League will witness 34 matches being played in a double round-robin format. The six franchises will include Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, Dubai Capitals and two more unnamed sides.

The Dubai Capitals franchise is owned by the GMR Group which also owns the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League. The franchise have signed West Indies power-hitter Rovman Powell and Sri Lanka white-ball captain Dasun Shanaka in their ranks. 

The franchise have also roped in West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen, Afghan spin ace Mujeeb Ur Rahman, in-form Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza, Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera and his compatriot Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
