David Warner hit his 19th ODI century against England at the MCG on Tuesday, November 22 and ended his century draught off more than 1000 days. He last scored a century before the world was trapped by Covid-19. Warner and Travis Head added more than 250 runs for the first wicket against the three lions who are in 2-0 behind the series. Pat Cummins and Jos Buttler both returned for the last One-Day International at a sparsely crowded MCG, as Australia sought to complete a 3-0 series victory.

Both had been rested in Sydney, with Josh Hazlewood captaining Australia and Moeen Ali captaining England. Cummins replaced Mitchell Starc, who had remained in Sydney, while Sean Abbott replaced Ashton Agar, who had gone to join the Prime Minister’s XI squad in Canberra. Along with Buttler, England recalled quick bowler Olly Stone while omitting Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali. On a cold, cloudy day, the surface was predicted to assist the quicks. But England bowlers could not really find any assistance.
