On Sunday, the 13th of November, England and Pakistan will face each other in the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at MGC, Melbourne. This will be a rematch of the 1992 World Cup final in many ways. Both teams have lifted the T20 World Cup Trophy in the past. Pakistan won it in 2009 while England in 2010. This is England’s first final since the 2016 T20 World cup while for Pakistan this is their first final in 13 years. This match has all the makings of going down to the wire as both teams will come out all guns blazing and try to put their best foot forward. There have been some special performances in the World Cup so far, here are the top 3 contenders for players of the tournamnet.

Alex Hales

Alex Hales wasn’t even considered for England’s ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign, but when Jonny Bairstow unexpectedly injured his ankle while playing golf in September, which left the door open for the opening position. With 211 runs at a 52.76 average and a strike rate of 148.59, he emerged as the team’s best run-scorer in this World Cup so far. Hales scored 52 against New Zealand and 47 against New Sri Lanka, but his best knock came in the Semi-Finals against India, where Hales and Buttler stitched together an unbeaten record opening partnership of 170 runs that led England to the massive 10-wicket win, with the 33-year-old batter smashing an unbeaten 86 off just 47 balls at a strike rate of nearly 183. He would look to replicate a similar performance in the Finals against Pakistan as well, which could lead to him being awarded the player of the tournament award.

Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan has been a key player in Pakistan’s success in the T20 World Cup for far. Although he went wicketless in the Semi-Finals against New Zealand, his match-winning performance against South Africa, scoring 52 from 22 balls and tremendous bowling saved Pakistan from the verge of elimination. He is also Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker, scalping 10 wickets in 6 matches. The 24-year-old’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball makes him Pakistan’s best T20 player and is a possible top contender for winning the player of the tournament award. He is one of the top contenders for the Player of the tournament award.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in this T20 World Cup, scoring 296 runs in 6 matches with a staggering average of 98.66. The right-hand batter has been India’s key batsman in this T20 World Cup, bailing India out of difficult situations and His knocks against Pakistan, Netherlands, and Bangladesh proved how valuable he is to the Indian team. Kohli has looked in prime form and is among the best performers in the ICC T20 World Cup. He scored a valuable 50 in the Semi-Final against England and helped the team put a formidable score on the board.
