Indian pace bowler Deepak Chahar has given a big update about his return to action. He stated that he won’t be fit in time for the upcoming T20I series against England which will start next month. Chahar also added that it would take another four or five weeks for him to fully recover from his hamstring injury. Notably, the 29-year-old had sustained the injury during the series against West Indies in February this year as well which eventually ruled him out of the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League too.

However, Deepak Chahar is currently undergoing his rehabilitation process at the NCA and he told PTI that his recovery is going very well and it will take another four or five weeks before he becomes fully fit. “I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit,” said Chahar.

The Indian speedster went on to say that he won’t be fit in time for the upcoming T20I series against England, which will begin on the 7th of July. Chahar also said that once he becomes match fit, he will have to check his fitness levels by playing a few club-level games as well. “It’s a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don’t think I will be fit for England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness,” further added Deepak Chahar.

When he was asked if he was targeting a return to the Indian team for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, the experienced bowler said that he is unable to comment on it at the moment. However, he also shared that he will definitely try to be match fit by then and make it to the team as well. However, it will be interesting to see if he makes it to the team or not. “I can’t say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let’s see,” concluded Deepak Chahar.
