Steve Smith is an international cricketer who plays for Australia in all three formats of the game. Born on 2nd June 1989, he was initially selected as a right-arm leg spinner. Later, he started playing primarily as a batsman. He has drawn comparisons to Don Bradman, who is widely regarded as the greatest batsman ever, due to his high Test batting averages. Smith has also captained Australia between 2015 and 2018.

Despite being considered as one of the best batsmen in the world, Smith’s involvement in the 2018 Australian ball-tampering scandal remains a dark period in his career. Following the incident, he was banned from domestic and international cricket for 12 months by Cricket Australia starting from 29 March 2018, and from consideration for any leadership role for another year. However, in November 2021, Smith was appointed as vice-captain of Australia’s Test team.
