South Africa (SA) will face England (ENG) in the first of three one-day international (ODI) series on Friday, January 27 at Mangaung Oval. England currently holds both limited-overs World Cup trophies. They will be in South Africa for a three-match One-Day International series beginning on Friday, January 27. In their previous ODI series, the Lions were thrashed 3-0 by Australia, with their batting failing terribly. Meanwhile, the series is crucial for the Proteas, who are aiming for direct qualifying for this year’s World Cup in India. They come into this series having suffered a 2-0 Test series setback at the hands of Australia.
Temba Bavuma will remain South Africa’s white-ball captain for as long as his teammates and management desire. Bavuma, who stated in November that he would not make a hasty choice regarding his leadership future after South Africa were eliminated from the T20 World Cup by the Netherlands, has subsequently had “conversations with the right people and remains dedicated to the role.”

If the hosts lose the ODI series, they will have to compete in the ICC 50-over tournament qualifiers. Temba Bavuma will captain the team, and all South African players are eligible for selection. They most recently played a three-match Test series against Australia, in which they lost 0-2. In terms of England, they are in a good position in the World Cup Super League table and will thus easily qualify for the ODI World Cup. They failed to make an impression in their most recent ODI series. In November of last year, England faced Australia in a three-match One-Day International series. They were defeated 0-3 throughout the tour.
