Former Australian cricketer has stated that while Steve Smith remains one of his favourite players, the former captain cannot be included in the T20 team for the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Warne slammed Australia’s tactics after they were defeated by England by an eight-wicket margin in the T20 World Cup. Warne was of the view that the Aussies should have picked all-rounder Mitchell Marsh instead of Smith for the competition. The legendary spinner let his opinions be known on Twitter after Australia’s humiliating loss against England.

“Disappointing selection from Australia leaving Marsh out & Maxwell batting in the power play (he should always come in after power play). (Marcus) Stoinis should have gone in. Poor strategy & tactics from the Aussies. I love Smith but he shouldn’t be in the T/20 team. Marsh has to be !!” Warne tweeted.

After the game, Warne stated that Pakistan and England are demonstrating how to play T20 cricket and that Australia needed to change their mindset.

“Proper T/20 cricket that from England! Australia will hopefully learn how they need to play after that smashing they copped from the Poms. Pakistan & England are showing how to play T/20 cricket. Australia need to change their thinking restyle of play plus the team !!!!!” the former cricketer added.

AUSSIES BOWLED OUT FOR 125

England bowled Australia out for 125, with Jordan leading the way with three dismissals. Chris Woakes and Tymal Mills also contributed with two wickets apiece. Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone each received a dismissal. The top run-scorer was skipper Aaron Finch, who scored 44 runs off 49 deliveries. Finch’s knock included four boundaries. Ashton Agar was the second-highest run-scorer, with 20 runs scored from 20 deliveries. Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was the third-highest run-scorer, scoring 18 off the same number of balls.

“It was a great bowling effort from the boys. Woakesy set up the tone. We try to keep it as simple as possible. We try and assess the pitch quickly. We tried to hold our lengths and bowl it straight and luckily it worked today. You just try to stick your strengths and then still add a little bit to your skills. You are never comfortable in international cricket. Everyday you want to improve as there are so many players who want to get into the team,” said Chris Jordan as quoted by Cricbuzz.

BUTTLER TURNS UP THE STYLE

Jos Buttler, England’s wicketkeeper-batter, made his presence felt with a fantastic performance to help England thrash Australia between the teams. Buttler scored 71 runs off 32 deliveries in an innings that included five boundaries and six sixes. The cricketer’s knock helped England chase down a 126-run target in 11.4 overs, getting the job done quickly. The dismissals were accounted for by Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa, who each took one wicket. The victory was the chasing team’s 14th in the last 15 T20 matches in Dubai.
