Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy 2022: Best performers

The Women’s Senior T20 Challenger Trophy 2022, the fourth edition, began on November 20. The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur hosted all of the campaign’s games. India A Women, India B Women, India C Women, and India D Women competed in the 20-over competition. On November 26, Saturday India D beat India A to win the tournament. Let us look at some of the top performers from the tournament.

Sahana Shamsunder Pawar

The left-arm orthodox had a great tournament. She picked up 5 wickets in 4 games, giving away runs at only 5.50. She was brilliant in the final as well. Playing for India A she conceded just 22 runs in 3 overs and kept the pressure on from one end. With the T20 World Cup set to take place next year in South Africa, she has certainly put her hand up as one of the contenders.

Harleen Deol

She too played for India A and scored 124 runs in 4 games with two fifties to her name. Her strike rate in the tournament was 133.33 and she hit 17 fours and 2 sixes with her highest score being 93. She scored a crucial fifty in the final, batting at four, she scored 67 runs from 48 balls and helped her side post a competitive total on board. Deol’s performance augurs well for the Indian team as she can be a good addition to the Indian middle order as a batting all-rounder who could chip in with an over or two when required.

Jasia Akhter

She was amongst the top batters with a strike rate of more than 130 in the tournament. She scored 114 runs in 4 games at a strike rate of 132.55. Opening for India D in the final she partnered with Yastika Bhatia and engaged in a match-defining partnership which helped her side win the game. She scored 47 of 38 balls which included 3 sixes and gave India D a brilliant start. She can prove to be a contender for a top-order spot in the Indian team.
