Sachin Tendulkar is a former international cricketer who has represented India in all three formats of the game. Born on 24th April 1973, the ‘Master Blaster’ is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. His technique is a combination of textbook shots and raw aggression. He made his Test debut against Pakistan on 15 November 1989 at the age of 16. The ‘Little Master’ rose to fame in the mid-90s through his fiery knocks in ODIs. His finest performances came against Australia, the most dominant team of the era. In a career spanning over 24 years, Tendulkar set several records in cricket. To name a few, he is the only player in cricket to score over 30,000 international runs. He holds the records for highest number of centuries in both Tests (51) and ODIs (49) as well as in Tests and ODIs combined (100). Through his double ton against South Africa in 2010, Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to score a double century in ODIs. The Government of India has honoured Sachin Tendulkar with several awards for his outstanding contribution to cricket. The long list of civilian awards includes Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
