Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut at the age of 16 and retired after a long and successful career in 2013 as one of the greatest batters to have graced the game.

His remarkable feat of 100 international centuries, like Don Bradman’s average, might remain unmatched in cricketing history. The Little Master accumulated 15921 runs in Test cricket and 18426 in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) which holds the record for most runs scored in both the formats.

However, his career came to a full circle, when he lifted the World Cup as a part of the Team India squad in 2011 after giving the world plenty of memories to cherish on throughout the lifetime.

Sachin Tendulkar Birthday: Mohammad Kaif makes a proposal

Tendulkar remains an inspiration to one and all and even the likes of former India captain Virat Kohli and his successor Rohit Sharma take inspiration from him. It could be argued that the world might never see a batter of his caliber ever again as he remains one of the greatest of all time.

He has given the country plenty of reasons to celebrate, and as the country celebrated his 49th birthday on Sunday, his former teammate Mohammad Kaif came up with a thought-provoking proposal.
Kaif, who was a brilliant fielder in his time, proposed to honour Tendulkar’s birthday as ‘National Cricket Day’ every year.

“How about declaring April 24 as National Cricket Day. I have never seen anybody so madly in love with the game like Sachin Paaji. Happy Birthday to the man who played a big role in India’s amar prem with cricket,” Kaif tweeted.

Incidentally, after Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal at Tokyo 2022 on August 7, that day has been declared National Javelin Day.
