The Royal London Cup 2022 started with champions Glamorgan starting their title defence against Derbyshire on August 2 as well. The 18 teams taking part in the tournament were divided into two groups – Group A and Group B that too randomly. The participating teams in the Royal London Cup 2022 are — Durham, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Middlesex, Nottinghamshire, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, and Warwickshire in Group A while Derbyshire, Essex, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire and Yorkshire are placed in Group B.
Meanwhile, Sussex will be played against Leicestershire at County Ground on Hove on Sunday, August 7 in their next game of Royal London One-Day Cup 2022. However, Sussex started their campaign with a defeat against Nottinghamshire won by 65 runs. Nottinghamshire posted 290 runs in 50 overs which Sussex failed to chase down as they were bowled out to 225 within 44 overs. On the other hand, Leicestershire won their last game against Middlesex by 15 runs. Mulder posted 116 runs and Mulder scored 50 and helped the side put up 359 runs. While chasing, Middlesex openers started well. Even their middle order too chipped in but that wasn’t enough and they could manage 344 runs only.
