Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, thinks that Test teams around the world are now more focused on results as a result of the first ICC World Test Championship. He believes that because WTC points are at stake, the teams have become quite aggressive in their tactics. Because the pitch changes over the course of five days, the veteran believes that Test cricket is not just a test of aggressive cricket but also a test of one’s capacity to adapt to difficult circumstances.

“Teams have already been a lot more aggressive. Teams are playing for results a lot more now, especially with the World Test Championship points at stake”, Dravid said in an interview with Sony Sports Network. ” “I still think adaptability is gonna be the most important thing in Test cricket. That ability to play aggressively when you need to. The opportunity to be able to play a difficult period or day of Test cricket either with the bat or ball and knuckle down and play some tough hard cricket as well”, he further added.

One step at a time

Team India should take things slowly, according to Rahul Dravid, if they want to place in the top two slots in the WTC points standings. He intends to wrap up the Test series when the tourists win the currently playing first Test against Bangladesh. KL Rahul and company are presently fourth in the WTC table with six victories out of 12 Test matches (two of which were draws). Australia, led by Pat Cummins, is currently in first place on the table after winning eight of its last twelve games. South Africa and Sri Lanka are in second and third place, respectively.

It’s one step at a time. We got to win this one first and then go to Dhaka and try and replicate that. We know that we have got a challenge on our hands, We know we got to win a majority of our games in the World Test Championship, but we aren’t gonna get there if we don’t take the first steps well. So, we have got to focus on this one then and see what we have to do in the series against Australia”, he concluded.
