Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has shared that India captain Rohit Sharma won’t play in the upcoming third and final One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series against Bangladesh on Wednesday. It is also noteworthy that, Rohit got an injury on his left thumb during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh and was seen walking out of the field as well.

However, Rohit Sharma will be back in India for medical consultation which also has put in doubt his participation in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh also.

“Rohit will certainly miss the next game, fly back to Bombay, consult with an expert and see how it is and whether he can come back for the Test matches or not. I’m not sure. It’s too soon to say that (he’ll be fit for the Tests or not). I think for him to show that level of courage, he had a serious dislocation, he had to go to hospital to get that set right, stitches in his hand, a couple of injections to go out and bat,” Rahul Dravid further shared on Rohit’s unbeaten 51 that came off just 28 balls while playing at No.9 as well.

“Credit to him, he was really determined to go out and have a go and take a chance and it’s amazing how close he got us with that innings, it was an absolutely phenomenal innings by the skipper. Great courage to be able to go out there and give us a chance. Unfortunately, in the end we couldn’t get over the line,” he again shared.

However, while speaking to reporters at the post-match press conference in Dhaka, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has also shared that the side is struggling with a few injuries now. He has also stated that India will miss the services of Rohit Sharma, and Deepak Chahar for the next match and also Kuldeep Sen, who has been ruled out of the rest of the Bangladesh series as well.

“We are struggling with a few injuries as well which is not ideal and not easy for us. I think Deepak (Chahar) and Rohit (Sharma) will certainly miss the next match. Kuldeep is also out of the series. Rohit will fly back to Bombay, consult with an expert to see how it is, and confirm whether he can come back for the Test series or not. It is too early to say anything but he will be out for the next match for sure,” Rahul Dravid concluded.
