The Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) denied the report of Team India head coach Rahul Dravid set to participate in a session of Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha’s National Working Committee in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh after claims from a BJP legislator on Monday. BJP MLA from Dharamshala constituency Vishal Naheria had told news agency ANI that the Test great will be setting an example for the youth by telling them that they can succeed not only in politics but also in other fields.

“The National Working Committee of BJP Yuva Morcha will be held in Dharamshala from May 12 to 15. The national leadership of BJP and the leadership of Himachal Pradesh will be involved. BJP National President JP Nadda, National Organization Minister and Union Minister will also attend the session. Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will also participate in this. Owing to his success, a message will be given among the youth that we can move forward not only in politics but also in other fields,” Naheria was quoted as saying by ANI.

BCCI media manager confirmed to Hindustan Times that Dravid had called him to say that the ‘story is false’. The development might come as a relief to cricket fans who were disappointed by the move taken by the India Test great. It has, however, been reported that the ruling party’s national and state leadership will be involved in the three-day working committee meeting.

“A section of the media has reported that I will attend a meeting in Himachal Pradesh from May 12th-15th, 2022. I wish to clarify that the said report is incorrect,” Rahul Dravid, Team India Head coach, himself later clarified to ANI after the false report broke out in the media. However, after his clarification, a number of fans reacted to it. “Hope he stays away from politics. He’s a rare gem and should remain so,” one of the fans tweeted. Another fan said, ‘thank God’, after Dravid himself denied the media claims.
