5-time IPL champions on Tuesday, November 15th announced that Pollard will be their new batting coach. Pollard has been associated with the franchise since IPL 2010 and since then has been part of each of the 7 title-winning squads which include the erstwhile Champions League T20. Pollard has also captained MI in the absence of Rohit Sharma on various occasions.
Ahead of the mega auctions, Pollard was retained along with Rohit, Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav but his performances last season were not up to the mark. There were rumours that he might be released by the team for the upcoming season but he has instead retired and has taken up the role of the batting coach. Pollard will be playing for MI Emirates as a player in the new T20 league starting in the UAE in January.
