Nicholas Pooran is a West Indian player who plays for Trinidad and Tobago in domestic matches. He made his international debut for the West Indies in 2016 and since then he has become the regular face. He made his T20I debut against Pakistan on 23 September 2016. And, in November 2018, he was included in the West Indies squad for their tour to India where in the third match, he smashed an unbeaten 53 runs off just 25 balls to score his maiden fifty in T20I cricket as well.
He also led the team in the five-match T20I series against Australia where they won 4 games in the absence of the original T20I captain Kieron Pollard who injured his hamstring during training as well. However, in November 2019, during the third ODI against Afghanistan, Nicholas Pooran was found guilty of ball-tampering and he also admitted it as well, and he was banned for four T20I matches as well. He again led the team in T20Is and was later named as the vice-captain of the team for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as well. In December 2018, Kings XI Punjab bought him. whereas in the 2022 IPL season, he is part of the SunRisers Hyderabad side as well.
