Expect an exciting battle between these two formidable sides who have got a perfect opportunity to sort out their squads before the World Cup
South Africa will lock horns with West Indies, under the new leadership of Shai Hope, in the first ODI of the three-match series, starting on Thursday at Buffalo Park, East London on the 16th of March 2023. South Africa was brilliant against England, beating them 2-1 at home. However, for this series, they have named a massive squad, which would give captain Bavuma a headache as he will have a problem of plenty. Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder are ruled out of the series due to injuries and will be replaced by Tabraiz Shamsi and Wayne Parnell. South Africa will hold the home advantage and the pitches might assist their bowlers.
Windies, on the other hand, have appointed a new captain, Shai Hope after their poor performance at the World Cup. West Indies hasn’t played any ODI in the last six months and it will be a tough task for them to play in South African conditions. West Indies would want their senior players to stand up, Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran, Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosien will be key in this series. After getting hammered in the red-ball format, West Indies will be looking to change fortunes in the limited-overs set-up and take an early ear in the series. Expect an exciting battle between these two formidable sides who have got a perfect opportunity to sort out their squads before the World Cup.
