Richa Ghosh has moved into the top 20 for hitters in the ICC T20I rankings for women after making an impact in the women’s T20 World Cup this week. Ghosh has set a career-high in the batters’ standings, and she is joined there by Amelia Kerr and Muneeba Ali, who have also set career highs. After a first-ball duck against Ireland, Ghosh struck 44 not out in 32 balls in a win over West Indies and 47 not out in 34 balls in a loss to England, giving her enough points to finish the week up 16 spots to 20th. The other Indians in the top 20 are Mandhana (No. 3), Shafali (No. 10), Jemimah (No. 12), and captain Harmanpreet (No. 13).

Meanwhile, Kerr, the world’s 13th-best T20I bowler, struck a match-winning 66 against Sri Lanka to go up to 16th on the batters’ list, her best to date. She is also ranked third, up one spot, among T20I allrounders. Renuka Singh, another of Ghosh’s India teammates who made major plays, took a career-high 5 for 15 against England. This resulted in a seven-spot jump to fifth place among bowlers. Muneeba became the first Pakistan batter to achieve a century in women’s T20Is and T20 WC when she hit 102 off 68 balls against Ireland on February 15. This moved her up ten ranks to 64th, the highest she has ever been.

Meg Lanning moves to 4th spot

Australia captain Meg Lanning has risen one spot to fourth in the batters’ rankings after hitting 48 not out against Bangladesh, while Suzie Bates has risen two spots to sixth after reaching 81 not out and 56 against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, respectively. Tazmin Brits (up six spots to No. 21), Amy Jones (up two spots to No. 26), Orla Prendergast (up eight spots to No. 38), and Harshitha (up four spots to No. 39) were the other batters to move up. On the bowlers’ chart, Lea Tahuhu has not only moved up from tenth to eighth after picking up eight wickets in four games – including a three-for against Australia – but has also crossed the barrier of 700 rating points for the first time in her career.

Darcie Brown, still just 19, has cracked the top 10 for the first time, at No. 8, while Hayley Matthews has climbed to tenth following a 2 for 14 against Pakistan. Ashleigh Gardner remains No. 1 among allrounders, while Deepti Sharma has slipped two spots to fourth, with Matthews and Kerr moving up, and Nida Dar moving up two slots to fifth. Meanwhile, England scored the greatest ever women’s T20 World Cup total in a 114-run thumping of Pakistan in Newlands to finish the group stage undefeated. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt smashed searing half-centuries in bright conditions to lead England to 213 for 5, an almost faultless performance ahead of the semi-finals. As Wyatt got England off to a quick start, Sciver-Brunt took control with an unbeaten 81 from 40 balls, and she partnered with Amy Jones for a century stand to demolish Pakistan’s short-handed attack.
