Bangladesh will host reigning world champions England in a three-match One-Day International series beginning on Wednesday. Bangladesh seemed to be in good spirits after defeating India 2-1 in their last series. England, on the other side, has a poor recent track record, having failed to win a series in their last four bilateral ODI series. Bangladesh hasn’t lost an ODI series at home since October 2016, demonstrating how strong they are in their own country. They must remember that they have never won an ODI bilateral series against England. They defeated India 2-1 in their last series, thanks to some inspiring lower-order batting displays by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Tamim Iqbal, who missed the last series due to injury, is back in the lineup and will captain the Bangla Tigers. The players chosen are in terrific form, having performed well in the recently finished Bangladesh Premier League. They have a decent mix of bowlers and emphasise batting because they will be facing world-class bowlers. England has travelled to Bangladesh three times for bilateral ODI series and won all three times, the most recent being in 2016 when they triumphed 2-1. James Vince, who did not play in the previous series against South Africa, returns to the squad and is expected to start with Jason Roy.

The recently finished BPL competition demonstrated that the pitch in general aided the hitters, with batters being able to play over the line even in the later portion of their innings, particularly during nighttime games under lights. That being said, there is something for seam bowlers as well, as they are likely to get help off the pitch early in the innings with the new ball.
