India got off to a sedate start with the new opening pair

New Zealand had won the toss and opted to field first. India came up with Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant as their new openers. The left-handed duo wasn’t that fluent on this day as the ball swung a lot early on, Rishabh Pant was dismissed inside the powerplay. Lockie Ferguson got the better of him with a back-of-a-length delivery.Ishan Kishan (36 runs of 31 balls) looked good till his stay but was taken aback as soon as Ish Sodhi was introduced in the attack.

Suryakumar Yadav smashes an unbelievable century and takes India to a match-winning total

SKY came of with one of the most entertaining knocks ever. Be it in the body or be it away from the body, pace on or pace off, Suryakumar Yadav has an answer to all. He changed the gears quickly and accelerated rapidly to take India deep in the scorecards. The 360-degree stroke play helped him race to his century (111* runs of 51 balls). Be it the shuffle-away pickup pull or the quirky inside-out over extra cover, Surya showcased it all today. SKY took India to a high total of 189 in the allotted 20 over.

New Zealand had a poor day with the bat and struggled in the chase

In reply, New Zealand did not start on a great note. They lost Finn Allen very early and that slowed down their progress. Williamson tried to steady the ship and hold together one side for his team. But the Indian bowlers kept chipping away with wickets. At the halfway mark, New Zealand could only muster 71 for 3 and the required run rate had sky rocketed. Williamson completed his 50 but failed to increase the scoring rate for his team at the right moment. The fact that New Zealand kept losing wickets from the other end did not help their cause. In the end of the 20 overs, New Zealand were bundled out for 126 runs and lost the match by 65 runs.
