Nathan Lyon becomes the 9th highest wicket-taker in Tests

Nathan Lyon moved up to 9th place on the all-time Test wicket-takers list after his performance against the Windies in Perth's first innings. The brilliant off-spinner has 440 wickets, breaking South African icon Dale Steyn's record of 439 Test triumphs.

Nathan Lyon moved up to 9th place on the all-time Test wicket-takers list after his performance against the Windies in Perth’s first innings. The brilliant off-spinner has 440 wickets, breaking South African icon Dale Steyn’s record of 439 Test triumphs. Lyon got Jason Holder’s wicket to tie Steyn for tenth place in Test wickets before dismissing Kemar Roach near the end of the West Indies innings. Lyon then surpassed fellow off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin when he picked up 4 wickets in the 2nd innings. Ashwin is almost set to play against Bangladesh in the Test match beginning on December 14th.

Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka is at the top of the list with 800 scalps from 133 matches. Shane Warne comes in second on the list with 708 wickets from 145 matches. England pacer James Anderson is third with 667 wickets from 176 matches, India’s Anil Kumble is fourth with 619 wickets, and Stuart Broad is fifth with 566 wickets from 159 games. Australia dominated the day, dismissing the West Indies for 283, thereby finishing their innings. Tagenarine Chanderpaul hit fifty before Josh Hazlewood gave Australia the critical breakthrough.

Australia is looking set to win the first Test with WI 7 down at Lunch on Day 5. Although Chase and Joseph had held the innings together and looked good to make more runs. Meanwhile, Austalia’s captain Cummings has injured himself and has not bowled much in the innings and even during fielding he was seen struggling with his injury.
