Mark Wood, an England bowler, is uncertain for the first Test against Pakistan. Wood, who had a hip injury during England’s successful T20 World Cup campaign, has been resting in the UK and will travel to Rawalpindi this weekend to join the Test team. The 32-year-old was initially chosen for the final against Pakistan despite being declared ready to play and unable to participate in the semi-final against India owing to an injury.

Wood missed the 2022 summer but made a comeback in Pakistan for the T20Is. In his two appearances during the seven-match series, he took six wickets at an average of 7.33, highlighting how crucial his pace was as a point of differentiation. He continued this success in four World Cup games, taking nine wickets at 12.00. He has his share of injuries. He was ruled out of the IPL last season because of an injury.

England’s Test tour to Pakistan starts on December 1

“We felt a week at home for them would be more beneficial, just to get their batteries recharged, and obviously with Woody’s injury, getting home and being around his wife and child would be better than being out here and getting all his rehab, which he could do at home,” Stokes was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. The first Test will be held in Rawalpindi on December 1.

England Men’s Test squad for the Pakistan tour: Ben Stokes (c), James Anderson, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Will Jacks, Keaton Jennings, Jack Leach, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed.
