The Malaysia Quadrangular Series 2022 started on July 2 with four nations featuring in the T20 tournament – Malaysia, Bhutan, Maldives and Thailand. The matches have been taking place at Bangi, located south of Hulu Langat District, Malaysia with the final playing on July 11, Monday. A handful of games have already taken place and the 8th match of the Malaysia Quadrangular Series will be played between Maldives and Bhutan on July 7, Thursday at the same venue.

The Maldives has so far won only one game and lost one too, having 2 points to their names whereas Bhutan too has similar points to their names after losing 2 games and winning only one so far. While Maldives have an NRR of +0.440, Bhutan has an NRR of -3.133 as well. However, both the teams have taken each other on July 4, Monday where Bhutan won by 6 runs. Put in to bat first, Bhutan managed a below-par score of 110 in 20 overs where Namgay Thinley and Gakul Ghalley scored 17s each. However, Maldives failed to chase down the total as they managed only 104. Mohamed Rishwan top-scored with 19.
