The Karnataka State Cricket Association announced the launch of Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2022 which will run from August 7 to 26. The KSCA organised event will be a replacement for the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) which ran for eight seasons before it was hit by match-fixing and betting scandal that saw the event eventually being scrapped off.
The Maharaja Trophy T20 2022 will feature six franchises from the Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Raichur, Mangaluru and Bengaluru regions. The franchises participating in the event will not have any owners but will be sponsored by different brands. The tournament will begin in Mysuru before moving to Bengaluru.

The all-new tournament will be telecast on the Starsports network. The live telecast of the matches will be available on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports Kannada with the matches available for LIVE Streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
The Maharaja Trophy T20 2022 will feature six franchises from the Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Raichur, Mangaluru and Bengaluru regions. But the name of the franchises and the full squad are still to be announced.
