Indian Premier League’s Lucknow Super Giants is a cricket franchise headquartered in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Lucknow Super Giants franchise was established in 2021 and from 2022 they are participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This cricket franchise is owned by RPSG Group, who was also the owner of Rising Pune Supergiant franchise from 2016 to 2017. Andy Flower the former Zimbabwean cricketer coaches the team and Gautam Gambhir the former Indian cricketer acts as the mentor of the team. RPSG group is owned by Sanjeev Goenka. They bid for 7090 crores to get the rights of the franchise. The franchise bought KL Rahul for 17 crores and drafted him as the captain of the team. This made KL Rahul as one of the highest paid players in IPL.

Strengths of Lucknow Super Giants

The most noted strength point in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 about Lucknow Super Giants is that they will be playing at their home ground which is BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, situated in Lucknow city. This gives an edge to the team, as they get to play on the pitch suited for their players. KL Rahul being the captain of the side has played amazingly in the last season. He took his team to the eliminators round and ended up being 3rd in the table. He has proved himself as a formidable captain and an amazing batsman. Deepak Hooda has shown his skills previously with bat and ball. He is one the biggest hitters in the tournament, who can change the tide of the game to his favor. All rounders are one of the most important parts of any team. They can perform with both bat and ball. LSG has few big all rounders with them, like Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya and others.

Weaknesses of Lucknow Super Giants

The pace attack of a team can destroy the batting line-up of any team easily. Having fast bowlers is necessary and Lucknow Super Giants lacks this. They have Avesh Khan, who is young and talented, but still inexperienced. He sometimes concedes many runs, which can alter the outcome of the game. They now have Jaydev Unadkat with them in the 2023 season, but Jaydev’s performance in the last couple of IPLs was not up to the mark. He conceded too many runs and wasn’t able to grab enough wickets. Mark Wood will now be playing in the 2023 season. He was bought by LSG in the 2022 auction but wasn’t available for that season. Their bowling looks weaker on the papers and the competition is more than ever. They might lack in their bowling department as they do not have a world class bowling line-up which can provide an edge in the game.
