Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo made a funny jibe at fellow Windies cricketer Kieron Pollard, after winning his 16th T20 title on Friday. Bravo was a part of the Chennai team that defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2021 final, following a spectacular performance. The Windies all-rounder stated that he was going to call Pollard as soon as possible, and inform him about the number of titles won by the cricketer in the shortest format so far. Bravo further stated that the Mumbai Indians (MI) legend had some catching up to do.

“Kieron Pollard has some catching up to do”

“That’s the first thing I’m going to do when I turn on my phone – let Kieron Pollard know this is the 16th (T20 titles he has won). He has some catching up to do. Belief in the squad from management, owners. After last season was really disappointed. Owed it to the franchise, the fans to come up with a better performance. Don’t get nervous (coming into a final). Have had good performance in different phases of the tournament. Faf and Ruturaj stand out for us. To have these two guys scoring over 500 runs together. Experience beats youth any day. Going to change the name from Mr. Champion to Sir Champion,” said the Windies all-rounder as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“Extremely grateful”

Robin Uthappa who played a crucial role in helping CSK post a competitive total of 192 runs for the loss of three wickets in the final, stated that he was extremely grateful.

“Extremely grateful, feels amazing to be part of this side especially how last year went for us. It was a very lean season for us last year and so it was important for us to come back and play as well as we could and really grateful that we have been able to. I just want to come in and contribute to the team’s success, today we had a good start and it was important for us to take advantage and we had a set batsmen (Faf) at the other end and I took it on and got a few shots,” said Uthappa.

“They create very secure environment within the group and there’s lot of clarity and communication within the support staff and the players and that really helps in building a secure group. I believe it’s your players who are not playing in the eleven that really create the atmosphere within the group and they make sure that they look after the players who are not playing in the eleven and I think that’s one of the biggest takeaways of our success in IPL,” he added.

“We have had many ups and downs”

Pacer Deepak Chahar who accounted for the vital dismissal of Shubman Gill in the final, stated that the players play for MS Dhoni as he is the captain of the ship.

“We have had many ups and downs. Very happy that we finished well. Happy to be on the winning side in my 4th IPL final. There was dew. But we handled pressure thanks to the experience. We were on the look out for a wicket because we knew their lower order wasn’t performing. Had a bad season last season but we had the confidence to do well this season. We all play for MS as he is the captain of the ship,” stated Deepak.
