Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head physio Kamlesh Jain,, who rose through the ranks after working as assistant physio for the franchise under Andrew Leipus for seven years, is in contention to take up the same role for physio. Jain has been touted as the next Team India head physio which will see him replace Nitin Jain at the position. He was named as the head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru earlier this year.

Kamlesh Jain awaits formal response from BCCI, head coach Rahul Dravid

Jain awaits a formal appointment from the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) after having met all the criterias for the role and impressing the concerned authorities apart from NCA head coach VVS Laxman, as per a report in Cricbuzz. A KKR official further confirmed the development. “We are very happy for him. He is thoroughly deserving of the position,” a KKR official told Cricbuzz. 

Kamlesh Jain: MSc in Sports Therapy from London 

Jain had completed his MSc in Sports Therapy from London Metropolitan University with merit in 2010. Following which he worked with a sports injury clinic in Chennai, India, as per mvmedu.org. He was then offered the job of Head Sports Physiotherapist at the Cricket Association of Bengal for the Senior Bengal Cricket team in 2011. 

He was offered the to work with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team camp from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and was subsequently offered the role of assistant physiotherapist for the Kolkata Knight Riders for the main IPL season in 2012. KKR emerged champions that year and Jain has since been associated with the team. It will be a rise in stature for Jain who has been
