There have been a lot of players who have made a fortune by playing at the IPL. Here is a list of the most expensive buys in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Chris Morris – INR 16.25 Crore

Chris Morris became the most expensive buy in the history of the Indian Premier League when Rajasthan Royals bought him him at the IPL 2021 mini-auction. There was fierce a bidding war from most of the teams which saw his value rise from a base price of INR 75 lakh to a staggering 16.25 crore. Morris was the leading wicket-taker for the Rajasthan Royals, scalping 15 in 11 matches but had a poor run with the bat, scoring only 67 runs.

Yuvraj Singh – INR 16 Crore

The legendary left-hander was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) ahead of the 2015 season for a huge sum of INR 16 crore. Yuvraj failed to repay the faith, scoring 248 runs at a paltry average of 19.07 and striking at a lacklustre 118.09. The world cup champion signed off from the league in 2019 on a high, scoring a brilliant half-century on debut for the title-winning Mumbai Indians.

Pat Cummins – INR 15.5 Crore

The current Australia Captain took the IPL by storm in 2020, when Kolkata Knight Riders bought him in the IPL Auction for a whopping sum of INR 15.5 crore, making him the most expensive overseas buy in the league had seen then. Cummins lived up to the billing, picking up 12 wickets for KKR and contributing with the bat in the lower-order, including a quick-fire fifty batting at number 7. He pulled out of the UAE leg previous season for personals reasons. The newly appointed Australia Test and ODI captain heads into the auction pool high on confidence. Cummins has delivered for KKR on several occasions and was a valuable buy for them.
