Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the second-most successful team in the Indian Premier League with four titles to their name. The team has been led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni right from the inaugural edition, who has led them to four IPL titles and created a reputation of being one of the best captains the game has seen. CSK has been a very consistent team in the history of IPL. Let’s take a look into the most expensive buys from the Chennai Super Kings ever.

1. Deepak Chahar – 14 CR

Indian pace bowler Deepak Chahar became Chennai Super Kings’ most expensive buy at the IPL 2022 auction after they bought back their star bowler for a staggering amount of INR 14 crore. Deepak has had a fantastic beginning to his career and is climbing up the ladder of success at a rapid pace. The right-hand bowled was out with an injury but is set to return to full fitness very soon. He is lethal with the new ball and can swing the ball both ways, he has the ability to pick up wickets in the powerplay and put his team on the front foot straight away, Chahar is more than a handy batter down the order and has won a few games for India with the bat in hand. He will be crucial in the success of CSK in IPL 2023.

2. Krishnappa Gowtham – 9.25 CR

Gowtham is a handy allrounder, his primary role in the team is of an off-spinner but he has the ability to hit a long ball. Chennai Super Kings needed an off-spinner to replace Harbhajan Singh who was released before this auction. Krishnappa Gowtham was one of the off-spinners available in the auction pool and was in high demand after his performances in the domestic circuit. CSK managed to pick the bowling all-rounder for 9.25 CR which is their second most expensive player in the history of the IPL. He blew hot and cold for CSK and didn’t live up to the expectations of the team management.

3. Ravindra Jadeja – 9.2 CR

Ravindra Jadeja has been one of India’s most successful all-rounders and he has been the start of the IPL ever since he first started playing with the Rajasthan Royals. In the 2012 Mini IPL Auction, Ravindra Jadeja was the only attraction in the pool of players. Most of the teams had a very small purse as there weren’t many star players in the auction. Ravindra Jadeja was bagged in the auction by CSK and has been one of their most successful players ever.
