RCB finished third and had a strong showing. They would, however, like to tighten a few screws and leave out a few players who do not fit into the balance of the Faf Du Plessis-led RCB squad.

Despite never having won an Indian Premier League (IPL) title, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are one of the most popular franchises. The presence of former RCB captain and world-class hitter Virat Kohli is the sole reason. Kohli’s brand image is enormous, and he is a popular cricketer among the general public. Last season, RCB finished third and had a strong showing. They would, however, like to tighten a few screws and leave out a few players who do not fit into the balance of the Faf Du Plessis-led RCB squad. In this article, we look at three players who are expected to be released by RCB ahead of the auction.

Anuj Rawat

In the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions, RCB spent a lot of money on wicketkeeper batter Anuj Rawat. Rawat’s high price tag, which cost a whopping Rs. 3.4 crore, backfired, as seen by his performances. Despite a promising start, Rawat faded into obscurity, managing only 129 runs in eight games at a poor 16.13 average. Dinesh Karthik can keep wickets and that would mean that Rajat Patidar and Mahipal Lamror may get more opportunities.

David Willey

David Willey’s IPL career has not gone well. He was signed by RCB for a base cost of INR 2 crore. Because Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was unavailable, he was given an opportunity to play for RCB in early matches in IPL 2022. Willey also batted at four. In his four games, the southpaw only scored 18 runs in two innings. Willy only had one wicket in four appearances. Willey was dropped from the starting lineup for the remaining matches after Glenn Maxwell returned. They can go for Chris Woakes in the auction. They can even consider David Wiesey who has previously played for them.

Sherfane Rutherford

West Indian batters have a reputation for being explosive, and Sherfane Rutherford is no exception. The left-arm batsman is famed for hitting massive sixes, therefore the RCB management paid Rs. 1 crore for him in the IPL 2022 Mega auctions. However, he only scored 33 runs in three IPL 2022 matches, falling short of countless expectations. They can look to target Harry Tector or even Josh Inglish in the auctions.
