The Delhi Capitals faced another disappointing season in the IPL 2022 where they failed to make it to the playoffs. The newly appointed captain Rishabh Pant came under scrutiny after a few questionable decisions that cost them towards the end of the season. However, the Delhi-based franchise is still chasing its first IPL title and they are all set to play the IPL 2023.

However, they released four players in the IPL drafts and traded in pacer Aman Khan from Kolkata Knight Riders for Shardul Thakur as well. And, with Ricky Ponting at the helm, they are another team who can end their trophy drought in the upcoming season as well. Meanwhile, they got a huge blow after their captain Rishabh Pant ruled out of the season after sustaining a dangerous injury last year.

However, Delhi Capitals added 5 more players to their squad in the auction. They brought in some of the veterans like Manish Pandey, who will be a good addition to their middle order and a backup keeper as well. Alongside this, Ishant Sharma also got a place in the side who earlier had huge success in the Delhi Capitals jersey over the years. Rilee Rossouw was bought for INR 4.6 crore and he will strengthen their squad to a great extent also.

However, with Rishabh Pant’s injury, the franchise will face an issue in their keeping also. But they do have a few options in their squad. They have Phil Salt, Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey – who all can keep as well as they released the veteran wicketkeeper KS Bharat ahead of the 2023 auction.

Here are the players who can keep wickets for Delhi Capitals:

Phil Salt:

Philip Dean Salt as known as Phil Salt plays internationally for England and domestically for Lancashire County Cricket Club, and earlier for Sussex. Primarily an aggressive right-handed opening batter who sometimes keeps wicket as well. While he has not had good form in recent times, his struggle against left-arm spin could see him struggling in the middle too. And, he might not be in the team too as well. But if he gets the chance, we can probably see him taking the keeping duty as well.

Sarfaraz Khan:

Sarfaraz Khan plays for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. He also represented India in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2014 and 2016. The aggressive right-handed batsman and a part-time spinner is also an occasional wicketkeeper. However, he is a great inclusion in the middle order and his recent success will help him to be a sure pick as well. Moreover, he was recently seen practising with the gloves too. So, there is a high chance that we might see him donning the keeping gloves this season.

Manish Pandey:

Apart from the above options, there is another player who can do the needful and he is none other than Manish Pandey who was seen donning the gloves during a domestic match as well. However, Pandey, who became the first Indian player to score a century in the IPL in the 2009 Indian Premier League, will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals as well. And, if not Sarfaraz Khan then we can see Manish Pandey behind the stumps as well.

However, it will be interesting to see who will don the keeping gloves for Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2023.

Delhi Capitals squad for IPL 2023:
