Indian Premier League has bridged the gap between international cricket and domestic cricket since the beginning. While Team India got many talented players throughout the years, overseas players also got the opportunity to showcase their skills as well. Like other countries, J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) has also allowed two of its players to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. With this, 13 players from the UT will feature as net bowlers for different franchises as well.

However, the latest players to join the SRH squad are Mohammad Tahir and Auqib Nabi from Kashmir as well. Meanwhile, JKCA has expressed its gratitude to the franchise for keeping the faith in the players from Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and the management granted permission for both players to join the SunRisers Hyderabad team as well. With this, the total number of JKCA players participating in IPL 2023 becomes 13.

As many as 21 players from J&K were shortlisted for bidding in the auction but only three came under hammer in the mini-auction. They were shortlisted by 10 teams from the initial list of 991 players among which only Vivrant Sharma, Avinash Singh and Yudhvir Singh were sold out as well.

However, apart from Mohammad Tahir and Auqib, Srinagar-based pace bowler Samiullah Dar has joined Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, he hasn’t played for J&K but he was among the top wicket-takers in the tournament conducted by JKCA last season. Mujtaba Yousuf, left-arm pacer from Anantnag district has recently joined Chennai Super Kings. Notably, he has regularly featured in IPL player’s auctions but he wasn’t picked. On the other hand, Basit Bashir has signed with the Mumbai Indians while Wasim Bashir has signed with the Lucknow Super Giants. Both have represented J&K at the junior level as well.
